|MATERIAL:||Maple and Walnut|
I love unusual burr puzzles, and the shape of Cobalt immediately grabbed me. I hadn't seen one that looked anything like it before. After checking out the design and solution, I was doubly impressed. The tricky level 12.8 solution is made even more difficult by the unfamiliar interactions between pieces bent at 90 desgrees. I decided to make it from two contrasting woods, mostly for the looks but also to give a bit of a hint to the solver.
Construction of this puzzle is outstanding! Fit is very precise and the contrasting splines are more than just decoration...they help insure the longevity of the mitered joint.
