As shown by the previous releases we crafted from solid wood in its intended rectilinear form, 2-in-1 is one of our favorite burr puzzles. Eric recently had the idea to try the same assembly in precision milled round metal. The result is profound, a reinvention that adds significant difficulty and results in a beautiful, hefty metal sculpture.
This puzzle ships unassembled. The solution is available upon request.
Handling Metal Puzzles
a very precisely made puzzle, great, quality like the wooden puzzles
Already in the possession of a gorgeous copy in Padauk made by Alfons I just couldn't resist this stainless steel version with round rods by Eric. It’s tolerances are spot on, but in the end, due to the round rods the puzzle feels quite loose. This also helps to accidently disassembly...as I found out the hard way. Putting the puzzle together is hard, very hard and almost impossible without the provided elastic bands...and since they are provided...I was very surprised how well the pieces hold together once assembled though as stated earlier the puzzle will fall apart if handled wrong.
A great classic puzzle, made especially difficult due to the dexterity aspects of the solve. Eric is kind enough to enclose rubber bands to help with the assembly, and I definitely used some! Better yet, get a 3D printed jig to help. Ask on the Mechanical Puzzles Discord :-).
