COMMENTS: | This is another puzzle I have always wanted to have a copy of. When I first started collecting, I was not a woodworker and had no way to make myself a copy. I never could find a copy of the "Pieces of Eight" puzzle for sale, and now I know why. It's *really* difficult and time consuming to make. Pick one up while you can, because I am never making these again!
That said, I'm glad I did complete this project. While not overly difficult, this puzzle is simply fun to play with and has a very interesting look to it once assembled. Wood movement with humidity could be a problem with this puzzle, so I assembled the blocks with a loose fit. Nevertheless, in high humidity situations please do not force the pieces together or apart. Taking care to keep the pieces as exactly square to each other as possible will also minimize any risk of inadvertently breaking a piece. |
