Double Slideways is a brilliant design and I'm glad we found time to make it again! This is a re-release of Ray's excellent exchange puzzle we last produced in 2014. The exchange edition was in a smaller format and fully notched for production efficiency. This remake is in a larger size and features augmented construction with a triangular stock insert. As a result, there is less void space once assembled, giving this edition smoother operation and more stability in the solved state.
We used a very premium Canarywood I have been saving for a special project. This wood was mostly a colorful and highly figured yellow, with a very few special copies featuring red streaks or sapwood edges.
79 total copies are available for this release, each signed and dated. 73 copies in Premium Canarywood, 3 copies in Red Canarywood, and 3 copies in Canary Sapwood . This puzzle is shipped disassembled.

Coordinate motion is an amazing thing to behold when assembling a puzzle. If you arent familiar with 6 piece burrs of any nature outside notchable burrs, you will be perplexed. Beautiful fit and finish. Another outstanding piece.
I'm familiar with 6 piece burrs but this one has a slant (literally). It is very precisely crafted so the parts have excellent fit. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived and being an amateur woodworker, I fully appreciated the fit and finish. It comes apart easy enough, but be warned, even if you track the pieces as they come out, it is very challenging to get back together. However, when you finally get it, the satisfaction is very rewarding! I struggled with it for awhile but then started 'getting' the idea and figured out some little tricks to make it easier.
Once I got it together I just had to play with it and do it again! The Canary wood is beautiful too.
A very fascinating puzzle, very well made as always by CubicDissection. The idea is simple if you are used to this type of puzzle, but it is so slickly designed and made that you really have to get the pieces positioned accurately to be able to get it together. But once you do, it is very firm and stays together extremely well.
