Brendan Perez is a talented new designer and i'm excited to be making his work available. Five Duo Cubes is a packing puzzle wherein five cubes at various offset positions must pack into a simple rectangular box. There are six different ways to join two 3x3x3 cubes together, including one rectangular block. Eliminating the single rectangular block, the remaining five can pack into a 9x7x6 box three different ways. The solution is made unique by adding protrusions to the frame of the box. Elegant in its simplicity, this puzzle is also quite tricky with a level 4.4.5.3 solution. Construction of this puzzle is robust, with the connecting portions of the cubes made from solid stock to prevent weakness at the joint overlap. 42 copies made for sale, each signed and dated. This puzzle is shipped unassembled. |
