The puzzle is a set similar to the Penultimate Burr with multiple problems to be solved. The set consists of a 4×4×4 cage with a 2×2 opening on each face and 14 non-planar penta/tetracubes. The objective is to fill the cage with four of the pentacubes and three tetracubes to complete a 4×4 cube. A jig is provided for testing possible solutions outside the cage, as well as a box which doubles as a display plinth for the solved puzzle. This is a difficult puzzle, with two assemblies having a unique sixteen move solution!
63 copies, each signed and dated, are available for this release. This puzzle is shipped disassembled.

I’m super happy with this purchase. The craftsmanship on these puzzle is amazing and this is no exception. 18 different types of wood, 47 separate problems equals one amazing puzzle that will take me months, if not years to complete. This will sit proudly with my Penultimate Burr set (which still has dozens of unsolved problems). Great puzzle, amazing execution.
I was undecided about purchasing Caged Polycubes when it was first announced. While I do like the idea of the puzzle I was not sure I had a place in my collection for it. That all changed when I saw the first photos of it. Each and every piece is made from a different and beautiful type of wood. I especially enjoy the piece made from Holly (with a finish so nice it appears to be painted).
The multiple challenges with this puzzle are excellent and will take quite awhile to work through them all. I am very glad I made the decision to add this puzzle to my collection.
Incredible craftsmanship and really fun to solve. Multiple problems. Beautiful woods! Another puzzle I’m honored to have from Cubicdissection.
