September 2023 Update Preview

Stockade by Andrew Crowell is an excellent packing puzzle. The goal is to fit the pieces in the cage with all the gaps covered by the pieces to create the illusion of a cube inside. The solution involves 15 steps with multiple rotations to offer a good challenge and a unique display shape. We've added two extra pieces to make Stockade 2 as an extra challenge. Stockade 2 is a level 4.4.4.3.3 packing puzzle with the same goal, fill all the gaps in the frame to create the illusion of a cube inside. 

Construction was made in two different wood species versions. One with a Shedua & Wenge frame and Purpleheart pieces, and one with a Purpleheart & Yellowheart frame and Chakte Viga pieces.

Trapped Duo is a very fun three piece burr puzzle designed by Tyler Hudson, creator of Parasitic Burr from our recent release. Two sticks waltz around each other inside the shouldered frame with a level 12.3 difficulty. 

Construction was made in two different wood species versions. One with a Macacauba frame and Bocote pieces, and one with a Zebrawood frame and Walnut pieces.

A while ago we produced several board and stick burr puzzles, such as Four Stick Eight and Quads and Rings 2. We decided to make a puzzle in this style in a larger size for better playability. Marshal Marigold by Alexander Magyarics was a great candidate with four identical sticks and two plate pieces a tough but doable level 27.7.10.2 difficulty. 

Construction of the Wenge burr sticks are reinforced with dowel joinery, with two sturdy 3/8" (9.5mm) acrylic plates between. A bonus challenge upon reassembly is to find the arrangement of pieces that produces a spiral grain pattern.

Three Cubes by Kohno Ichiro is an award-winning design placed in the top 10 2018 IPP Design Competition results. This pocket-sized puzzle is a ton of fun and remains a favorite. With only three identical pieces, this seemingly simple assembly puzzle may keep you busy for longer than you expect. The goal is to combine the pieces to create a stable assembly forming three distinct, equal-sized cubes. Complicating this task is the polarity of the powerful magnets embedded into pieces.

Once solved, the puzzle snaps into shape, resulting in a beautiful and entertaining fidget toy. Three cubes were only the beginning; Mr. Ichiro subsequently designed the Four Cubes and Five Cubes to create a set, with each puzzle escalating in difficulty.

This batch of Three Cubes was constructed from CNC milled aluminum, and is considerably smaller in size than our wood version. Approximately 80 copies are available. Three Cubes ships in an unsolved configuration.
