Striped Quartersawn Sapele / Birdseye Maple / Paduak
99 Copies Released
Originally released in very limited numbers in 2012, Topless Puzzle Box was my contribution to the legendary Apothecary box. I always loved the design and decided to make another batch for the many newer collectors who have been unable to find a copy.
I've seen a fair number of boxes and this one has what I believe are some unique characteristics. Unfortunately, I can't show much detail of the inside of the box without giving away the workings. I can say that the box has two lids, and neither a top nor a bottom. Figuring out how to deal with that conundrum will hopefully get you on your way...
These boxes are constructed from a plank of very nice striped sapelle which gives a ton of shimmer. They are designed with longevity in mind and should function fine regardless of humidity. I'm VERY happy with how they came out.
99 copies made for sale, each signed and dated. This puzzle is shipped assembled.
Don’t worry, I’m not giving anything away. It is immediately clear that the “top” and “bottom” are removable, and then (yet again)....... nothing, well almost nothing. I can see how it’s held together, but it must have been birthed fully formed from the earth as I don’t see how you could have made the thing!
Eric is a clever ba$...
I've struggled with this box for quite some time. Besides the obvious moves, this one didn't want to give away its secrets...
Until it hits you with a BANG!
Wonderfull mechanism and precicesly crafted!
A nice Topless Box
This box is made very nice, like all puzzles of Cubidissection, great wood, exact manufactoring, and especially a tricky idea, thanks Eric, for your brilliant word, Frank
