Four Cubes is Kohno Ichiro's follow-up to the brilliant Three Cubes puzzle. This sequel puzzle features two pairs of identically shaped pieces embedded with magnets similar to Three Cubes. The goal is to combine the elements to create a stable assembly forming four distinct, equal-sized cubes, each connected to the neighboring cube with no more than a half-face. Despite having two possible solutions, Four Cubes is a step up in difficulty. A secondary challenge is possible: find a solution that creates two bars of equal length.
Our work is handcrafted to very precise tolerances and must be kept within the range of 40-60% relative humidity at all times. Failure to do so may cause inoperability or permanent damage.
It seems easy right!? It’s just four cubes….. getting more advanced with puzzles I continue to pick this puzzle up and solve it because it supplies so much creativity with an attainable solution. This will take you longer than you expect but you will enjoy every moment of it.
I love Eric's boxes and complex puzzles, but sometimes it's nice to enjoy the elegance and simplicity of a solidly built put-together like this. Magnets make for good fiddling and (bounded) exploration. Recommend the whole series of Cubes - plenty of the unexpected to be found. In fact, my 6 year old son took 3 Cubes and 4 Cubes and within a few minutes had found a stable (but not completely magnetically-joined) 4x4x4 voxel cube to be made out of the combined pieces. Can you find it?
