Great craft for a very big little box
As always excellent craftsmanship, magnificent design. With an incredible desire to start investigating it
Regardless of whether you are purchasing this for somebody new to puzzles or a collector this is an absolutely amazing value.
This is a multi-step, sequential discovery puzzle that isn’t so hard as to frustrate somebody to failure but nor is it so easy that you will breeze through it in 5 minutes. Each stage is a satisfying new discovery leaving you with a sense of accomplishment.
The brass and acrylic presentation is quite substantial and it’s a nice showpiece for a table or shelf. The CD description that there might be machine marks or hairline cracks in the acrylic may be there as an ultra honest view of what you may get but the unit I received was really perfect in every way.
If you have been eyeing some of the ultra premium metal sequential puzzles such as hip flask from Felix Ure but don’t know what the fuss is about or whether this is the type of puzzle that interests you, then start here. The price is an incredible value and unlike many other puzzles in this price range there is a full discovery process involving multiple insights to solve. This is more of a journey to go on to get Houdini out of the puzzle than a single surprise solution.
While the puzzle is based on an award winning design originally made from wood and acrylic this new release actually has some small design improvements that add to the challenge due to the tight machining tolerances.
All the praise this puzzle got in the last years is absolutely justified. The solve is a clever journey with just the right amount of hints along the way. Amazing craftsmanship as always with Eric's work. And the new version which combines Claro Walnut with the aluminum part of the key is just beautiful.
Loki, a brand new sequential puzzle lock designed by Boaz Feldman that is a definite level 10 in difficulty as I spent several hours solving it. A definite fun and very challenging piece as the object is to remove the shackle and then to reassemble. Many tricky steps and maneuvers to accomplish this and I must admit an absolute brilliant design.
A great sequential discovery puzzle with a lot of good clues along the way.
A fun puzzle involving the polarity of magnets as well as a visual assembly challenge. Perfect for my 9 year old granddaughter learning about magnetism. Not too easy but not so difficult that she gives up in frustration. Challenging for me as well! Beautiful workmanship. We are very happy with it and highly recommend it.
A great little puzzle - perfect for beginners.
This puzzle is amazing. Alot of other similar sized SD puzzles while ranging in difficultly are usually limited to 1 or 2 tools. They also can be limited in mechanics/steps. Don't get me wrong some have proven to be just as hard or harder. But this one has so much packed into it. The steps and mechanics are amazing and as a true SD lover this really satisfied that itch. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in SD puzzles.
This was an investment for sure, but I knew it would be worth it. Aaaaannnnd... it was better than I expected!!! The Claro Walnut is gorgeous. The mixed media of wood and aluminum is perfect. The box is made to very tight tolerances, so much so, it ships in a hermetically sealed bag to maintain low humidity for the wood. Perfectly crafted and finished, it looks deviously simple at first glance. However, there are many clever twists hidden throughout the solution. I really enjoyed working on this and was totally lost in another world while I spent hours discovering its secrets. I was very close to the solve when I hit a roadblock that took me another hour to get past. Once I did, I literally jumped up and cheered! Very satisfying. It gave me a rush when I got it open! This is a complex, clever, amazing piece that I will cherish in my collection. Thank you Eric and CD staff!!!
This is an excellent read for anyone interested in puzzles boxes.
