Mechanical Puzzles and Puzzle Boxes
For over a decade Eric Fuller has been pursuing perfection in his Raleigh, North Carolina workshop. Exotic woods milled with unsurpassed attention to detail result in heirloom grade interlocking puzzles, packing puzzles and puzzle boxes.
I find this puzzle remarkably well done,
and I highly recommend it.
For me, it's not just a puzzle but also an exceptional piece of jewelry that now sits permanently near my computer, close at hand.
This puzzle hits the sweet spot of difficulty. It has a very satisfying deduction process with excellent aha moments. Beautifully finished and crafted.
Eric and the team at CubicDissection always put out amazing quality work. I never think twice about a purchase from them since I know every item will be made with the highest attention to detail. Thanks CD!
Having solved Spinning Tumblers, I was curious to see what Psycho Disks had to offer. I wasn't disappointed. A great twist on a great puzzle. Lots of fun. A bit more fiddly but well worth it. I love it!
I’ve found this puzzle to be challenging for me, and just really a lot of fun trying out various approaches to solve it (piece rotations, etc.). And once again, you can’t beat the quality of puzzles from Cubic Dissection. 👍🏻👍🏻 Very happy with this purchase. 😁
When I first received my Psycho Disks I had no idea what to do so it was just a great fidget. After some time and observation I worked out what needed to be done. Eric has packed more into this small puzzle than I would have thought possible. It is great to fidget with and even better to solve.
Taco Cube has a thoughtful solution with a truly fun and unique disassembly!
It seems easy right!? It’s just four cubes….. getting more advanced with puzzles I continue to pick this puzzle up and solve it because it supplies so much creativity with an attainable solution. This will take you longer than you expect but you will enjoy every moment of it.
5L Bin is an interesting looking puzzle which also makes for a great display piece with its many configurations. It's not too difficult if you are familiar with n-ary puzzles but it's fun to pick up and solve over and over again. The included metal polishing cloth was a nice surprise.
Eric added a couple evil tricks and twists to Phil Winfield’s “Spinning Tumblers” which amped ip the difficulty quite a bit. It was quite tough even after knowing the solve to the original. Love the look of the mixed metals. Had some technical issues with the reset but a little Renaissance wax as suggested by the cd team worked like a charm.
As always, phenomenal work from the CD team. I think that this may have been one of their first getting into the realm of metal designs and it’s awesome! Innovative n-ary packing puzzle design from Pit Khiam Goh with a perfect build that’s fun to solve and satisfying to fidget with endlessly afterwards.
A great classic puzzle, made especially difficult due to the dexterity aspects of the solve. Eric is kind enough to enclose rubber bands to help with the assembly, and I definitely used some! Better yet, get a 3D printed jig to help. Ask on the Mechanical Puzzles Discord :-).
Very nice, very high-quality aluminum and brass puzzle made to Cubic Dissection’s usual standards. Everything moves smoothly and beautifully, and if you pay enough attention you can start to figure out what’s going on inside. A great mechanism, and a worthy enhancement to the original concept.
What a great and excellently made puzzle. If you are on the fence about weather or not to pull the trigger on this puzzle. I highly recommend it. The solve is a bit tricky but once you stop and think about what is going on inside you will get that AH HA moment and be moving forward in no time. I am so glad that Cubicdissection started producing metal puzzles and can’t wait to see what’s next!!
I was a little concerned with the mixed metal/wood format, but I should have trusted CD would make this work well. The weight and feel of the metal pieces don’t outshine the quality of the wood box. Instead, they complement quite nicely with a great fidget factor as the pieces slide in and out. I was also concerned of the metal edges scratching up the wood during play, but so far that hasn’t been a problem at all. Great puzzle, and a nice challenge.
